One of the most important suggestions we can give to our customers preparing to launch a custom explainer video, is to come up with a measurable and compelling ‘Call to Action’. What do you want the viewers of your video to DO as a result of watching your explainer? If your video is simply educational, it is passive. It may be useful in teaching your viewers about your product… but it is ineffective as a selling tool. You must influence your audience to become active – to engage with your company through your video. That’s why we always advise our clients to come up with an action, or goal they want their video to accomplish. Here’s an example. Do you want your audience to leave their contact information? Do you want them to sign up for a trial or beta product? Do you want them to call you? Email you? Go to your website for more information? You’ll note that part of our IllustrateIT creative signature is to include a final ‘Call to Action’ at the end of every video. “Sign up now!” “Call us today!” “Visit our Website!” “Join in seconds!” It’s a simple trick, but adding a specific directive has been proven as an effective way to generate greater interaction and produce better results. It can also be a valuable way to measure the concrete sales/ marketing results of your video campaign. How many hits to your website did you get as a result of your video? Have you increased your number of sign-ups? You can effectively determine and measure ROI analytics that are tangible as a result of your ‘Call to Action’! Your video should do more than simply teach or present information. Give your captive audience a task to perform, make them active, give them a way to interact with your company… and you’ll see fantastic results!
