Have you ever tried making a list of your favourite films? It’s harder than you would expect, and for many movie lovers the process is comparable to choosing a favourite child… impossible.
Recently, TIME Magazine released their list of the Top 25 Animated Films of all time. Who doesn’t love to debate a ‘Best of’ list? Who is the top athlete in their sport? Who is the greatest artist in history? Will we ever conclusively end the Beatles vs Rolling Stone dispute?
Lists that make a strong pop-culture statement are polarizing and incite great discussion. In this case, a trusted industry source in TIME Magazine is attempting to close an argument that has spoiled many a dinner party in it’s day; determining a definitive ranking for an entire genre of film.
Here is the TIME Magazine List of the Top 25 Animated Films of all time:
- Lady and the Tramp
- The Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Yellow Submarine
- Horton Hears a Who
- Kung Fu Panda
- Paprika
- Tangled
- The Lion King
- Akira
- Happy Feet.
- Wallace and Gromit
- The Adventures of Prince Achmed

Don’t shoot the messenger!
This is probably NOT the list you would have come up with – South Park over The Lion King? Pinocchio named the number 1 animated film of all time?
If this list doesn’t satisfy you, try making one of your own – we’d love to see which animated film you would put at the top of your list! The results will vary, and we will never come to an ultimate conclusion– but let’s continue this ‘great debate’.
